I Felt A Kiss

Debie found herself in the hospital with a very painful back injury. It was so bad she thought she had broken her back. She reacted poorly to the administered drugs and seven days later she was still in the hospital in terrible pain.

With all that was happening in her life in the hospital and out, she became very depressed and discouraged. She said, “I turned to the Lord in a way I never had and just said, ‘Heavenly Father I’ve never asked you for anything special in my life, but I can’t do this anymore and I need your help. I’m turning it over to you.”

She described that “immediately I felt the presence of two hands came from behind me. I could feel the hands on my head—the fingers on my cheeks. I felt a kiss on my forehead.”

When it was over, she started to thank Heavenly Father when she was filled with the spirit and knew that the kiss had come from her mother, who really hated to see anyone suffer. “It was the most sacred experience I’ve ever had in my life,” Debie said.

Months passed and she was sitting in an institute class when the discussion turned to the ministering of angels. It touched her deeply and she cried all the way through the class. She remembered the blessing and the kiss. The teacher had quoted from a book titled, The Key to the Science of Theology by Parley P. Pratt.

She wanted to read further, but she learned the book was out of print. She couldn’t find a copy. About two weeks later, she was at home. Her granddaughter was just learning to walk and had scattered toys all about the house. Debie was in the process of picking them up when she noticed a book, lying open and face down near the stairs. Debie reached down, picked up the book and turned it over. The book was titled, The Key to The Science of Theology by Parley P. Pratt and it was open to the chapter about angels.

How had it gotten there? Debie said: “Somehow that little girl had gone downstairs into a bookcase that had eight cubes, found that particular Church history book, and brought it upstairs, open to the page about angels.”

A coincidence? No.
