Heavenly Father Cares

Some years back, my friend Tricia and her husband, Richard, took a road trip from their home in the lovely community of Georgetown, Idaho to Richmond, Utah. While in Richmond, they stopped for ice cream at Casper’s.

After paying for the ice cream, they sat on the bumper of their car and enjoyed the day and the treat. They drove home.

A couple days later, Tricia realized she couldn’t find her purse. That was particularly annoying as she had a new driver’s license and temple recommend in there. She looked everywhere, but, alas, no purse. That Monday they decided to drive back to Richmond.

She said, “I prayed before leaving and told Heavenly Father that I was going to do my part by retracing my steps and I would like His help. I walked up and down the barrow pits thinking that the purse would have rolled off the bumper and down on the road. I didn’t find the purse!”

They went back home, and she kept praying about it. She kept having a simple little impression—just a thought—to look on the floorboards of their car. She said, “I eventually listened and went out and uncovered the car, and when I opened the door that thing was laying right there on the floor!”

God can answer us in a multitude of ways, but quite often it is a simple thought to our mind accompanied by a nudge. I love what Tricia said in conclusion, “Heavenly Father cares about even the smallest things that we care about.” And so He does.
