The Light Came On

My friend Jaynie Holley, tells the story of a time when her oldest son, Jay, came home for a visit. He said there was something in the garage that he needed to find. Not a problem, right? Not exactly. Jaynie described that their garage had been turned into a storage area and was stacked from floor to ceiling, and worse yet, the light bulb had burned out and no one could reach it to replace it.

Jay went out to search and came back a short time later aggravated that he could not find what he was looking for. His mother asked him if he had prayed for help. Jay turned back to search again and mom offered a silent prayer for him.

Moments later, the light came on in the garage and Jay appeared shortly after with the item he had been looking for. Jaynie said,

I asked him if he had found a way to get to the top of the boxes to install a new light globe because I had seen the light go on. He said that he had not, that there were too many things in the garage to even get to the light socket. “Then how did the light come on?” I inquired. Then Jay told me that he had offered a prayer and asked the Lord to help him to find what he was searching for and that as soon as he closed his prayer, the light globe came on by itself and that he was able to find what he was searching for and that then the light globe went off.

At that point, Jaynie walked back over, opened the door to the garage and flipped the switch several times. “The light would not come back on and is still not working to this day.”
