Description

That Day in Gennesaret

This story is directed to the men and boys of God. There never lived a man more useful to our Father in Heaven, more productive with his life than the Lord Jesus. He was powerful.

One day Jesus and His disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee into an area on the northwestern shore called Gennesaret. As the boat drew to shore, Jesus stepped out. Instantly someone recognized Him. What happened next is astounding.

Those who knew him scattered excitedly, running through the countryside spreading the word that the healer had come. From all directions, people came, eagerly or perhaps desperately, bringing those who were sick and afflicted. Those who could not come under their own power were carried in their beds to Jesus. This was opportunity not to be missed.

As Jesus walked, the sick and afflicted lined the streets before Him and pleaded for the opportunity to simply touch him, even if it was only the border of his coat. And of course He let them.

As each person touched Him, they were healed—made perfectly whole.

Those who came in contact with Jesus felt the power in Him. He inspired confidence, comfort, and faith just by his very presence. He was different from other men—more pure, more powerful. People were drawn to Him, and not because He was empty charisma, but because they knew He could indeed help them in ways no other person could.

Can you imagine what it would have been like that day to walk down that street with Him? O, to have been in His presence and felt the power of His love and Priesthood.

Why can’t there be such men and events today? There can! Brethren, the Lord and the world need men of such power and purity today. Not only is it possible, but given enough faith in Him, it is inevitable. It is what you were born to be.
