Did you Pray?

DID YOU PRAY?

The blessings of heaven come when we ask for them That is the rule, but that asking doesn’t have to be a grand and elaborate affair. For example,

Al loved to fly and he and Linda owned a Cessna 150. One hot summer day as they were flying from California into Utah, they looked ahead of them and saw a looming mountain range standing about 9000 feet high. The peaks were right in the way and in order to get where they were going they had to get over those mountains, but the under-powered, fully-loaded plane was not getting sufficient lift because of the heat of the day.

A brief conversation passed between Al and Linda. Al commented that they had to go over those mountains but the plane just would not climb.

In her heart and mind Linda looked toward heaven and prayed silently, “Heavenly Father, please take that Almighty hand and lift us up to the altitude we need to be.“ Immediately, the vertical speed indicator began to spin and the plane climbed rapidly. Al looked over at his sweetheart and said, “Did you pray?”

“Yes,” she replied, “You said you needed more altitude.”

Not only did their plane ascend over the mountains safely but so too did their faith rise a little closer to perfection. And so it may be with us, we ascend to heaven one small prayer at a time.
