Description
The Pulley Had Shattered
No matter where we are, how remote it is, or how lonely we feel, our Heavenly Father sees us, knows us, and loves us. And if we ask, He will hear us and help us.
By herself, Fran crossed the Mojave Desert in an old Honda Pilot. She was returning from visiting her children and grandchildren in San Diego. Before she left, she offered a prayer asking the Almighty that all would be well with her and the car—that she would be safe.
A few hours later she stopped in St. George as she always did to take a break. As she pulled up to the drive-thru window of a fast-food restaurant, her car started to shake violently, “making a metal against metal grinding sound.”
Fran quickly turned the car off. Her food was handed to her. What should she do now? She decided to offer a short quick prayer asking what to do. The feeling came to her to continue on her journey. She said:
I turned the car back on and there was no more shaking or horrible grinding sounds, so I pulled out onto the road, and again said a little prayer, should I get on the freeway, and I felt to do so. It seemed like everything was normal, and so I continued on my way knowing that it could not be normal.
She kept going—praying all the way. Hours later as she approached Salt Lake City, the impressions came to her: don’t stop, keep going and drive at this speed. Fran obeyed.
She made it home without incident—very happy to do so. The next day she took the car to her mechanic. He looked under the hood and discovered that a belt pulley had shattered. “According to him there is no way that car should’ve made it from St. George to Bountiful.
